How do you get to Rusutsu?

From Tokyo, fly to New Chitose (Haneda takes about 1 hour 40 minutes), then take a bus of about 2 to 2.5 hours for $32 to $35 (¥5,000 to ¥5,500), per two sources. From Sapporo the bus takes about 2 hours. No 2026-27 timetable is published yet.

The resort shuttle was free and turns paid on 28 November 2026. Fares and routes were not announced in our sources, so ask your hotel before you count on it. More on transfers: Can I ski Hokkaido without a car?

What happens on the day?

Expect a waiver, and for drivers a licence check and an alcohol check. You sign the waiver at the reservation desk, and insurance is included in the price. The instructor may refuse a driver. On the Introduction and Driving Course the instructor sits in the passenger seat, and the car is an Impreza (automatic) or a Subaru B4 of the instructor’s choosing. The venue is the River Wood car park.

The venue decides on the day whether weather allows the sessions to run.

Do you need a licence?

Ride-alongs need no licence. For the Introduction and the Driving Course, you must present a licence at the start.

The page does not mention an IDP and does not say which foreign licences count. Ask the desk in writing which of your documents it accepts. The wider picture across operators is in Which IDP do you need for a drift lesson in Japan?

The minimum height is 140 cm, and the page states no minimum age.

How do you book, and what if you cancel?

Booking is required, and the resort wants it by 17:00 the day before. You pay in advance. The reservation desk is open 8:00 to 16:00; the phone is +81-136-46-3332 and the email address is on the snow driving page.

Cancellation is listed as 10% at booking, 50% on the day before and 100% after 17:00 the day before. The booking page lists no refund terms for a weather cancellation, so ask the desk for them in writing.

The site is in English, Chinese, Korean and Japanese. Which language the instructor teaches in is not stated.

Before you book Reserve before 17:00 the day before, and ask the desk three things: which licences it accepts, which companion fee applies and what happens if weather stops your slot.
