How Arigato Japan measures visits with Google Analytics 4: consent in Europe, cookies, your choice and hosting by Cloudflare. No accounts, forms or ads.
Arigato Japan is a static travel guide. It has no accounts, no forms, no advertising features and no email address. It counts visits with Google Analytics 4 on the live site only.
What does Google Analytics measure?
Google Analytics 4 measures page views and visits on the live site. Previews and local builds send nothing to Google. Advertising features are switched off: Google signals and ad personalisation are disabled.
When does Google Analytics load?
In the EU, EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland, nothing from Google loads until you press Accept in the notice. The notice reads “We’d like to count visits with Google Analytics. Nothing is sold.” Closing it with the cross counts as “No thanks”. Pressing Escape only hides the notice without recording a choice, so it appears again on your next visit. Anywhere else, Google Analytics loads without a notice.
Your country is read from your connection by Cloudflare. If that is unavailable, the site falls back to your browser’s time zone, and a European or unknown time zone gets the notice.
What is stored in your browser?
After you accept, or anywhere the notice is not shown, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and ga followed by an identifier. The site also stores your choice in your browser’s local storage under “arigato-japan-analytics”, as accepted or declined with the date. The site sets no expiry on it, so it stays until you change or clear it. If you decline, the site deletes any Google Analytics cookies and stops measurement.
How do you change your choice?
Press “Cookie settings” in the footer to reopen the notice, then choose Accept or “No thanks”.
Who processes the data?
Google acts as a service provider for the measurements, and the data may be processed outside the EU.
Who delivers the site?
Cloudflare Pages, run by Cloudflare, Inc., hosts and delivers the site. Cloudflare processes IP addresses to deliver the pages and to keep the service secure, and it keeps technical logs under its own privacy policy. Arigato Japan runs no server and keeps no logs of its own. Search runs in your browser and sends nothing to a server. Fonts and images are hosted on the site, so your browser makes no requests to other services for them.
Can you write to us?
The Write us page has no channel yet, so the site receives no messages. Before a form or any other way to write is added, this page will say what it collects, where it goes and how long it is kept.
Is your data sold or shared?
No. Nothing is sold, and there are no ads or affiliate links. Google receives the visit measurements described above, and Cloudflare delivers the site.
Can this policy change?
Yes. This page is updated before any form or other data collection is added, and whenever the analytics setup changes. The version here applies from the moment it is published.
